Summary:

To assist in the process of classroom teaching and do related work as required, all under the supervision of the classroom teacher.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

High School diploma or equivalent and 48 college hours

Paraprofessional Certification Preferred

 

Experience:

 

Prior experience working with children, preferably in an instructional setting

  6. Ability to provide virtual/distance learning to students via Google Classroom and other multimedia options in response to pandemics, natural disasters, catastrophic events, etc.  


 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:


  1. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning material or skills introduced by the teacher.

  2. Assist teacher(s) in implementing lessons and activities through virtual/distance learning via Google Classroom and other multimedia options when necessary.

  3. Assist in creating necessary instructional packets, initiate communication with students and parents as necessary, assist in taking attendance, post instructional videos, provide assistance to assigned students who may need specialized accommodations, and/or assist with small group instruction, and participate in student, parent, campus and district Zoom meetings as required.   

  4. Operate and cares for equipment or instructional materials used in the classroom for instructional purposes.


3.  Help student master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.

4.  Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and/or instructional materials as directed by the teacher.

5.  Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work as assigned by the teacher.

6.  Assist with the supervision of students during meals, emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, or fieldtrips.

7.  Assist with supervision of daily routines and schedules.

8.  Provide information and assistance to a substitute teacher should one be assigned.

9.  Participate in appropriate staff development as required to ensure professional growth.

10. Participate in staff meeting, committee meetings, or ARD meetings as required by job assignment.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 

None.

 

Equipment Used:

 

Computer, telephone, printer, copier, fax machine and calculator audio visual equipment.

 

Working Conditions:

Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.

 

Maintain emotional control under stress. 

 

Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.

 

In accordance with TEA regulations, STET/HMPS will provide virtual/distance learning when it is necessary. This platform will be conducted either from a classroom or a location other than the school building, as approved by the Superintendent.  Employee will be subject to virtual/distance learning policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.
