PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To coordinate, budget, and manage the day to day operations of youth and community services, supervise after school Youth Team Leads and Mentors in alignment with the Gathering Outreach mission and vision, and following company and school district guidelines to maintain an orderly, safe, and inspiring environment for all.



Qualifications:


  • Certified or Licensed Child Care Director from the Texas Department o Family Protective Services

  • At least three years experience in a classroom or after school setting

  • At least three to five successful years of experience in managing a child care facility or child care program

  • Thorough understanding of child care management operations

  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, computer and interpersonal skills

  • Strong coordination abilities to coordinate community family and youth events

  • Comprehensive knowledge and proven success implementing program activities for children K-7th grade

  • Able to accept and respect differences in children, parents and coworkers Ability to manage and maximize a budget



Education and Certification:




  • 2-4 year degree in Education, Child Development or Early Childhood

  • Certified or Licensed Child Care Director from the Texas Department of Family Protective Services



 



Experience:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES




  • Maintain and develop high quality child care class room management standards based on age appropriate practices.

  • Develop and communicate planned activities to after school youth mentors who will facilitate during after school programs and summer camps, based on goals communicated by the Program Director.



Personel Management




  • Supervise all after school and summer camp staff, including substitute staff in alignment with the vision. Manage staff attendance policy and procedures.

  • Conduct after school and summer camp staff orientations and trainings for new staff and as needed.

  • Provide accurate and meaningful quarterly and annual performance evaluations for all after school staff.

  • Establish controls to assure that programs adheres to set budgets in a cost effective manner.

  • Maintain and manage Parent and Child Care online records using the Brightwheel online system.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for day to day operations, as needed. Maintain open, consistent, accurate and professional communications with everyone.

  • Conduct parent orientation before school and before summer camp.

  • Provide reliable, accurate and timely information about Gathering Outreach services to interested parties. Assist and perform in other functions assigned by supervisor.

  • Fill-in as a Youth Mentor, after school or during summer camp, as needed, if a Youth Mentor is out.

  • Follow rules, regulations and policies of Gathering Outreach and Alvin ISD. Follow Company Attendance Policy.



PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS



Seminars and Training:




  • Attend professional development conferences to suggest and implement new strategies and ideas toward the Gathering Outreach youth initiatives.

  • Oversee training and professional development of co-op high school students.



Community Relations




  • Articulate the Gathering Outreach mission and vision to staff and stakeholders, and solicit support.

  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

  • Always represent Gathering Outreach in a professional, courteous, loving and positive manner, at all time to all people.

  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning for staff, students and parents.

  • Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.



Working Conditions: Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environment Factors




  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress Work with frequent interruptions.

  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.

  • Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent local travel by car during the day, within a 5 mile radius.
